School Council
Here at Townlands, we believe that it is incredibly important for ALL children to have a voice and feel as though their thoughts, opinions and views matter.
Our School Council
Our school council is decided each year in September. From years 1/2 to year 6, each class elects one child to become their school councillor. Children who want to be school councillors for their class are expected to make posters and give speeches about why they want to become a school councillor and how they would represent their class. Following this, each child is given the opportunity to vote.
School councillor responsibilities
Each school councillor must ensure that all the views of the children in their class is heard. They are given a notebook at the beginning of the year to make note of any ideas and suggestions made from their class.
The school council meet at least once every half term to discuss any ideas or issues raised by children in their class.
Children in the school council uphold the vision and ethos of Townlands by being excellent role models. They consistently demonstrate the 5R's.
If you have any ideas of how to make Townlands better, please tell your school councillor today!
