PE and Sport Premium

We believe that physical education supports a child’s physical and mental well-being and we aim to give children access to a wide range of Physical Education.  All children have the opportunity to participate competitively in sports within school or the wider community.  We are proud to have our own specialist sports coach who works with all the children across the school.  Our sports coach provides two quality P.E. lessons as well as lunchtime and after school sporting events.

The main areas of learning include the following:

  • Games- Invasion, Striking and Fielding, Net and wall, Athletics.
  • Dance-Movement to music.
  • Gymnastics-Floor and apparatus
  • O.A.A- Outdoor activities, problem solving, team building, orienteering.
  • Fundamental motor skills, coordination, balance, Core strength, special awareness.
  • PSHE-Social interaction, self-esteem, healthy lifestyle.

We are part of the Hinckley and Bosworth School Sporting Association (HABSSA) and have access to a sports manager who arranges local sporting competitions throughout the school year ranging from Football, Gymnastics, Dodge ball, Hockey, Athletics, Multi skills plus many more. This gives our children across both key stages the opportunity to represent the school in competitions against other local school children and with the incentive of progressing to district level competitions.

The school offers swimming lessons and employs qualified swimming instructors to teach the children to swim.  Based on assessments of the children in year 6, 71% of children leaving school achieved the statutory requirement to confidently swim a distance of 25 m using a range of strokes.
