Safeguarding

Safeguarding Support at Townlands

Safeguarding procedures at Townlands C of E Primary Academy are underpinned by these key principles:

  • Safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility: all staff, governors and volunteers play their full part in keeping our children safe and protecting them from abuse, neglect and other safeguarding concerns.
  • All staff, governors and volunteers have a clear understanding regarding abuse and neglect in all forms; including how to identify, respond and report.  This also includes knowledge in the process for allegations and against professionals.

Our school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. We do everything we can to protect our children. All people in the school community have a responsibility to act on any concerns that they have about a child’s wellbeing.

Through our curriculum we teach children to stay safe and happy. We encourage the understanding that any problem or worry that they may have is legitimate, and to share their worries, big or small with their trusted adult either at home or in school.

During school hours if you have a safeguarding concern, please either come into school to raise the concern, ask to speak with a DSL or you can email:  dsl@townlands.leics.sch.uk and a member of the safeguarding team will get back to you.

Operation Encompass

Safeguarding our children is of paramount importance to us at Townlands, it is with this in mind that we are part of an initiative called ‘Operation Encompass’.  This informs schools if any of our children have been witness to or involved in a domestic incident either over the weekend or the prior evening. This enables us as a school to support individual children and families in an effective and proactive manner.
