Ukrainian Humanitarian Appeal

Ukrainian Humanitarian Aid

In response to non-monetary urgently required items (dried food, toiletries, basics and medical supplies), these are some of the contributions that staff at Townlands donated to the Leicester Ukrainian Club.

These are scenes taken at the Ukrainian Club. A member of staff and her family regularly help to sort, pack, box, label, and weigh donations from across Leicester and Leicestershire.

Dear friends,

Friday, 18th March, 9am. I have just received these images from our contact in West Ukraine. Here you see Ukrainian volunteers taking all YOUR donations out of one of the lorries. I am to pass on this message to you all (translation):

"The people who reloaded the packages in Poland, and all the Ukrainian volunteers thank every one of you all fivefold! Please convey to all that I (our contact) express boundless gratitude to all involved".

This is the journey of the donations collected from the Leicester Ukrainian Club. Some of the medication is on its way to an army hospital in Ukraine, other items distributed within the community.

Ukrainian Humanitarian Fund-raising Day

As a school community, on Friday 1st April, we held a non-uniform day to raise money to assist the children and people of Ukraine.

To show our support, staff and children at Townlands participated in a ‘BLUE and YELLOW day’ – the colours of the Ukrainian flag.

Voluntary contributions were greatly received and during the day we raised approximately £576.00  which has been passed onto the Disaster Emergency Committee (DEC), to ensure that the funds go rapidly to help those in most need.
