Homework

Thank you for your support with your child’s reading and homework last term. It is really important to read at least three times per week and note this down in their reading record.

Phonics homework is set every Monday and is due in the following Monday. Our phonics learning will continue into phase 3. This phase includes, sh, ch, wh and th. Then moves on to long vowel phoneme (sound) families, ai, ee, ie, oa, ue. Please continue to practise sound talking words orally for your child to practise blending sounds together e.g. s-t-a-n-d   u-p, stand up, c-l-a-p  y-our  h-a-n-d-s, clap your hands etc. There will be more ‘tricky’ words to learn to read then spell off by heart. These will be put into your child’s phoneme folder. Please encourage your child to use our cursive writing style in any writing they do at home, especially when writing their name. Bad habits are hard to change.

We will try to change library books once per week. Mrs Ladkin on Tuesday and Miss Zanker on Thursday, so please ensure library books are in book bags for those days. Thank you.
